Welcome to one of the World’s Coolest Hotels

Tigerlily Tigerlily, Edinburgh’s most exciting boutique hotel, bar and restaurant, is approaching its first anniversary on a high – after being named one of the “World’s Coolest Hotels” and seeing occupancy hit record levels.

Since its launch in late June 2006, the uniquely designed and effortlessly hip Tigerlily has collected a clutch of awards, enjoyed glowing reviews and cemented its status as the ultimate living, dining and partying experience in Scotland’s capital.

Situated in the city’s historic George Street, Tigerlily is a post-modern extravaganza of vibrant colour, innovative décor and magnificent detail which blends brilliantly with the opulent, old-world features of the five-storey, A-listed Georgian townhouse.

Tigerlily’s sumptuous surroundings have been described as “effortlessly cool” by The Guardian and “indefatigably girly” by Conde Nast Traveller, while the New York Times has paid tribute to the hotel’s “ultra modern décor and high class comforts”.

Furthermore, the restaurant and two chic cocktail bars have proven phenomenally popular with visitors and locals alike.

Industry experts have agreed with Tigerlily being the only Scottish venue to feature in the prestigious Conde Nast 2007 Hot Hotels List as one of the world’s 65 Coolest Hotels, adding to other titles such as its five nominations in 2007 Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards and Best New Design in the UK Bar Awards.

Lucy Henderson, Marketing Manager of Montpeliers (Edinburgh), the group behind Tigerlily, said: “With its stunning interiors, relaxed environment and tastebud-teasing cocktail and food menu, Tigerlily has injected a fresh burst of excitement into Edinburgh.

“We’re delighted with the impact Tigerlily has made on the hotel/entertainment scene, both locally and on a global scale. Our occupancy rates are now at record 80 per cent levels, buoyed by ever-increasing demand from tourists, romantic couples and business travellers alike.”

Highly sophisticated, yet friendly and unpretentious, Tigerlily has entertained the discerning drinkers, the fun-seekers and the chill-out crowd, as well as celebrities such as Vernon Kaye, Steve Coogan and Girls Aloud.

Features including a giant mirrored mosaic which covers an entire wall of the Georgian bar, unique ‘cloud’ lighting, a giant rotating disco ball and vivid pink carpeting welcome guests with the sense that they are entering a magical adult wonderland. Details such as the fine toiletries from The White Company in the bedrooms to the Italian crockery ensure the minutiae of the Tigerlily experience is equally impressive.

This is all against the backdrop of high ceilings, ornate cornicing and oak panelling, for a lavish yet relaxed environment. The 33 individually designed suites and rooms fuse Georgian heritage with contemporary twists, and the luxury four-poster beds prompted the Guardian to suggest “Forget partying; come here to catch up on some sleep”.

Lucy said: “While the surroundings scream glamour and theatre, the playful feel of the place ensures Tigerlily remains accessible, fun and inclusive. It’s like we say: The chance to drink, eat, sleep – only better.”

To round off a night at Tigerlily, head downstairs to Lulu, a midnight menagerie of subterranean glamour, lush surroundings and eclectic sounds, already described by Sunday Times Style as one of the UK’s best nightclubs

Lucy explained: “Lulu has reinvented the nightclub genre, with features such as the Sparkling crystal studded wall and underlit dance floor which promise to rouse the reveller in the most jaded night owl. Specially trained staff circulate offering drinks and advice on cocktails, and the maestros behind the musical line-up have finely honed a soundtrack to your night which is edgy yet accessible.”

Cool, glamorous and fun, Tigerlily has breathed fresh life into a classic city centre Edinburgh location, while showing the best of Scottish hospitality through ground-breaking standards of innovation, service and style.
