Huka Sout Africa Sister resorts Huka Lodge, Taupo, New Zealand and Grande Provence, South Africa both share exciting news of a culinary nature. Huka Lodge is very pleased to announce that it is soon to have a new Executive Chef. From 01 August 2007 David Griffiths will be creating his fine food for the exclusive enjoyment of Huka Lodge guests.

Griffiths enjoys a very high profile and an excellent reputation since establishing, alongside partner Prue Barton, their outstanding Auckland restaurant ‘Vinnies’. Recognised by the dining public and his industry peers as one of Australasia’s leading chefs, Griffiths returns to New Zealand from Sydney, Australia to take up his new position at Huka Lodge.

Grande Provence is proudly celebrating the success of its Executive Chef, Peter Templehoff. He has just been named ‘Sunday Times Chef of the Year’ in Johannesburg, where the finals of this inaugural competition were held. Judges were impressed by his technical skill, the taste and visual appeal of his dishes as well as the textural combinations.

Though the competition was very close Templehoff ’s cuisine was considered to have that leading edge that awards are made of.

Peter Templehoff returned to South Africa recently from London where he was Executive Chef of award-winning restaurant ‘Automat’. His innovative contemporary menus for both lunch and dinner can be enjoyed at The Restaurant, Grande Provence Estate.

Both Huka Lodge and Grande Provence are sister properties of The Huka Retreats.
