A dozen divine new rooms as Glasgow's top hotel gets refurb

9th August 2007 Print
Hotel Du Vin - Glasgow Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow has opened the doors on twelve opulent new bedrooms - from the ultimate honeymoon suites to indulgent rooms for a weekend break.

The bedrooms are situated within the newly acquired house number four and each has its own unique style, echoing the luxurious grace and charm of one of the country’s most individual hotels.

The Hotel previously owned the upper apartments of house number four but the purchase of the ground floor in 2006 means that the hotel now owns all five of the grand townhouses in the row and, for the first time, all of the houses interconnect across an entire sweep of the gracious Victorian terrace.

The twelve new bedrooms are the last word in the hotel’s trademark deluxe style. Four poster beds, deep, roll top baths and fireplaces make the rooms extra special.

Each of the rooms is named after famous winemakers - tying in with the Hotel Du Vin name and reflecting the promise of the superb in-house wine cellar (with no less than 600 bottles) and reached by a secret passageway.

The Domaine Georges Vernay is arguably the ultimate honeymoon suite. It comes complete with its own conservatory and private patio with views over the Hotel’s terraced garden.

One of the most magical elements of the suite is that it is a duplex. The conservatory suite has a staircase leading to a large downstairs bathroom – a luxury wet room. You will even find that the bathroom is stocked with covetable Jo Malone toiletries.

There are two further grand duplex suites within house number four – both feature freestanding roll top baths in front of period fireplaces. As with the conservatory suite, the duplex suites also have staircases leading downstairs to opulent wet rooms.

In addition to the new rooms a further 12 rooms have been refurbished in the hotel which now has a total of 49 sumptuous bedrooms plus a Bistro deluxe restaurant, whisky Snug wine cellar, gym, treatment room and three private dining rooms

Prices from £165 per night for a club room to £495 per night for the conservatory suite.
