The Westbury Hotel unveils £20 million refurbishment

The Westbury Hotel This Autumn The Westbury Hotel will proudly unveil its incredible £20 million refurbishment. This five star luxurious hotel is located on the most attractive corner of Bond Street, London’s most exclusive shopping street for over 300 years. The hotel was opened in 1955 as the first London property of the family who owned and managed Knott hotels (established in 1889).

The first owner, a keen Polo fan, named the hotel after the celebrated Westbury polo clubs in the United States, and also named the bar, ‘The Polo Bar’. The Westbury is situated a stone’s throw from London’s theatre heartland and its prime shopping areas.

The hotel was bought by a private family in May 1999, who have restored it to a lavish yet contemporary style under talented designer, Alexander Kravetz. The hotel is overseen by General Manager Zeljko Stasevic, whose previous employment includes positions at Claridges. The new look Westbury will undoubtedly be one of the most glamorous and comfortable hotels for Londoners and tourists alike to visit.

The Rooms

The Westbury hotel offers 249 refurbished rooms, sporting modern and individual interiors with all the luxuries expected from a five star hotel. All the rooms have lavish marble bathrooms, plasma screens and stunning views over London’s West End. The Westbury also offers a fitness suite exclusively for the use of guests, WIFI and ADSL/Broadband connection. Guests also benefit from a 24 Hour Room Service, offering fine dining within the comfort of your own room.

The Penthouse

The Penthouse Suite is one of the most comfortable and lavish hotel rooms imaginable. Located on the 7th floor it has a spacious terrace outside affording views over two of London’s landmark green spaces, Hanover Square and Berkeley Square. It has been attractively furnished with plush sofas and rugs, parquet floor and a large plasma screen mounted on the wall. The dining area accommodates up to 12 people and the suite is so spacious that it is the perfect room for entertaining guests, whether it be for a cocktail party or sit down dinner. There are two further deluxe suites on the same floor, offering every modern comfort imaginable.

The Restaurant

Artisan is the ultimate destination restaurant. Recently refurbished in an opulent Art Deco style, the restaurant is the perfect place for residents and non-residents alike to enjoy a relaxing and delicious meal. The newly appointed Head Chef, Daniel Hillier, whose previous employment includes positions at acclaimed restaurants, Royal Hospital Road, Claridges and Putney Bridge restaurant, has devised a delectable Modern European menu. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The restaurant can accommodate up to 70 covers and also has a private dining room next door which can be opened up as an extension to the main restaurant floor, accommodating a further 22 covers. Artisan is overseen by Restaurant Manager Laszlo Nyari, supported by his friendly and professional team. Laszlo has also previously worked at Claridges and ran his own restaurant and wine bar in Spain before being employed by The Westbury. The Bar

The Polo Bar has also recently undergone a massive refurbishment and is one of the most comfortable and stylish bars in central London, taking its inspiration from the Art Deco period. It offers an impressive selection of spirits, to impress the most knowledgeable of connoisseurs and including the finest cognacs, armagnacs and nearly 40 different whiskies.

The bar also offers an extremely innovative cocktail list, from the Black Cherry and Lavender Martini to Mayfair Rose, a stunning blend of Raspberry Vodka, Rose Liqueur, Champagne, fresh raspberries and lychee.

The Polo Bar also offers a food menu from 11am until 11pm, ranging from snacks such as Duck Spring Rolls and Crudités to more substantial salads and mains. Salads include their signature Bond Street Salad, an appetizing mix of Smoked Chicken, Avocado, Blue Cheese, Tomato and Pommery Dressing and classic Caesar Salad.

Mains include Smoked Salmon and Fresh Crab Fishcake served with a Poached Egg and Hollandaise sauce, and Chargrilled Scottish Sirloin Steak served with Pommes Frites, Roast Cherry Tomatoes and Roquefort Butter. There are also a delectable selection of desserts including Caramelized Banana Tart with Coffee Banana Ice Cream , and High Tea is served in the bar and lobby area everyday between 3pm and 6pm. Bar manager Elias Yiallouris previously worked at both Claridges, Harvey Nicholls and The Savoy Hotel.
