South Africa to welcome new 4-star bush lodge

20th September 2007 Print
Kuzuko Lodge Legacy Hotels & Resorts is delighted to announce that their newest bush lodge, Kuzuko Lodge in the Addo Elephant Park, will soon be ready welcome its first guests. It will offer a 'Big 7' game experience within reach of Port Elizabeth airport, the Garden Route and Cape Town.

Hidden with in the cavernous bushveld of the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape, lies the Greater Addo Elephant National Park. It is here where the evenings’ silence is broken by the howl of the black-backed jackal and the francolins’ calls herald each new dawn, that Legacy Hotels & Resorts International will manage the area’s newest 4-star bush lodge, Kuzuko Lodge.

With uninterrupted views, the much anticipated lodge is expected to receive its first guests in late 2007. Kuzuko is a private section of Addo Elephant National Park, third largest national park in South Africa in a region free of malaria. The development will include 24 bungalows with private lounges and deck areas. Other planned for this bushveld haven include star-gazing telescopes, waterhole hides, day and night game drives and bird-watching. While recreation facilities will include a restaurant, bar and lounge, swimming pool, spa and gymnasium, guided game walks and access to Addo Elephant National Park.

The original Elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area - today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 400 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. For the first time in over 100 years, lion and spotted hyena were reintroduced to the park in 2003.

But the Addo story has only just begun. Plans to expand the 148 000 hectare Addo National Elephant Park into a 360 000 hectare "Greater Addo" park are moving forward at an exciting pace. This expansion is transforming Addo into the ultimate tourism destination. This park provides excellent game viewing of “the Big 7” (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, whales and great white sharks) in their natural habitat.

Legacy Hotels & Resorts International is proud to introduce one of the park’s finest leisure and corporate getaways - an African wilderness experience within reach of Port Elizabeth airport, the Garden Route and Cape Town, surrounded by the vast plains lying beyond the edge of the Zuurberg Mountains, under the immense span of the southern sky.
