easyHotel.com flies high with Heathrow contract

8th October 2007 Print
Stelios, the serial entrepreneur who famously introduced no frills to air travel, continues to confirm the potential of the easyHotel brand with the opening of their first airport hotel at Europe’s busiest airport. easyHotel London Heathrow will open next year following the signing of the company’s second UK agreement with The Eclipse Hotels Group, who will open easyHotel Luton in February 2008.

This latest easyHotel.com franchise agreement will see the hotel open in spring 2008 and provide a low cost alternative for Heathrow’s domestic and international passengers.

The company’s bid to become Europe’s leading ‘super budget’ hotel operator with a presence in key cities was reinforced earlier this week with the opening of a hotel in Budapest on 1st October. This opening adds a further European presence for the company, which already operates hotels in Basel and central London.

A second Swiss hotel will open in Zurich in November this year.

easyHotel.com CEO, Lawrence Alexander, said: “This latest deal demonstrates that our franchisees understand the enormous potential of the easyHotel brand to operate successfully in city centres and at international travel hubs. Heathrow was always a target for the brand and we are delighted that Eclipse is confident in the potential of our business model to the extent that they are to develop another hotel before they have opened their first!”

Sameer Damji, Director at Eclipse, said; “We believe that the easyHotel brand has huge potential and appeals to a new generation of cost conscious travellers. We are looking forward to working together with easyHotel on this project and will continue to look at other opportunities in the future”.
