Important accolade for Red Lion Inn

15th October 2007 Print
Important accolade for Red Lion Inn The Red Lion Inn at Stathern, Leicestershire, has won the ‘Best Local Produce Menu’ award at the recent Leicester and Rutland Restaurant 2007 presentation evening, having been sponsored for this category by the East Midlands Food Festival, at which they were a recent exhibitor.

This award is more than justified as the whole Red Lion Inn team, lead by Sean Hope, owner/chef at both The Red Lion Inn (theredlioninnn.co.uk) and the Michelin-starred Olive Branch pub at Clipsham, Rutland, are all passionate about using local produce and have developed strong relationships with noted specialist suppliers in the area to ensure the very best quality in their foodstuffs.

And this use of local product is to be seen at its best in the forthcoming Cookery Demonstration on 13th November at the Red Lion Inn where Sean will be showing how to prepare and cook a delicious 3-course menu in the cosy and traditional Inn surroundings. Sean has chosen a special Autumnal menu that uses products carefully sourced from local suppliers in the Vale of Belvoir and the neighbouring county of Rutland. Starting with coffee at 10am, the demonstration will start at 10.30, finishing with lunch and a glass of wine at 12.30, although there will be a short break mid-morning for refreshments.

Sean says: “We have always placed huge emphasis on sourcing and using the very best foodstuffs and drinks from the local area, and have spent a great deal of time in forging strong relationships with specialist suppliers in the traditional ‘gourmet’ Vale of Belvoir where the Red Lion Inn is situated. It’s therefore very nice indeed to win an award of this stature that recognises our efforts in this key area of our business. Our customers already seem to recognise and enjoy the local produce on our menu and it is for this reason that we continually strive for excellence in this area.”

The Red Lion Inn is situated in the glorious Vale of Belvoir in the heart of the lovely English 'shires' countryside and is renowned for its fine food and drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, but with its own unique character, with a traditional bar that serves real ales, lagers and speciality bottled beers, plus an informal lounge with magazines, newspapers, comfy chairs and sofa. There is also a relaxed dining area plus another, more formal and elegant dining room.
