12 Apostles Hotel & Spa - Improving on perfection
An exclusive haven for both local and international guests, The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Camps Bay, Cape Town, is the epitome of relaxed style and subtle sophistication. The recipient of numerous international awards, guests will exclaim when they see the elegantly refurbished Leopard Room Bar and Lounge and the Azure Restaurant. When remodelling the Leopard Room Bar and Lounge, interior designer and family member Toni Tollman captured the timeless, proudly African ambience of a location rife with expansive vistas and incredible ocean views. In this lush setting overflowing with inspiration, Toni selected influences that blend effortlessly with the breathtaking Cape environment. The result is an enduring homage to African sophistication.
As one enters the Lounge, two majestic bronze leopard sculptures by Donald Greig regally guard the entrance. The refurbished bar sits enticingly to one side of the room. Groupings of Toni’s favourite flower, the Protea Pin Cushion, are placed throughout, adding splashes of orange to the décor. The layout and furnishings are designed to allow guests to enjoy private moments as well as social gatherings. This overwhelmingly warm and luxurious room truly is the perfect meeting place in Cape Town.
Toni’s subtle decorating touch is also evinced throughout the Azure Restaurant where she incorporated the natural beauty of coral and shells from the surrounding sea and mountains. Two coral sculptures dominate the space above the mantelpieces on each side of the room.
Designed by South African SculptorWalter Oltmann, they are in perfect harmony with the stunning protea sculpture in the hotel garden. These are complemented by the 200-year-old antique etchings sourced from the United Kingdom and locally set in handmade frames. The newly decorated Azure Restaurant is the perfect setting to enjoy Executive Chef Roberto de Carvalho’s unique Fynbos infused menu.
