Unusual Hotels Of The World named best website Fighting tough competition from large, established hotel companies, travel site Unusualhotelsoftheworld.com has won the award for best website of 2007 at the World Hospitality Awards.

“It is businesses as usual for Unusual” quipped co-founder of this guide to over 130 Unusual properties, Steve Dobson. “We’ve always been keen to do something different and buck the boring. Facing off against more established ideas is something we enjoy doing”.

Now in it's 8th year, previous World Hospitality Awards nominations have included Hilton Hotels and Radisson. This year the team of Unusual Hotels of the World beat competition including Disney to win their prestigious top website award at the ceremony in Paris on the 22nd November.

From hotels underground, to treehouses, airplanes and boats, the Unusual Hotels of the World online guide has properties in prisons, churches and two with bedrooms fully submerged. Selecting properties from around the world, the guide highlights a sense of fun that is often lacking among more expensive designer properties.

“Membership of the online guide is restricted to properties that can demonstrate that they are unusual in themselves, not just extreme in their tariffs” highlights Steve.

The online guide website allows visitors to search on the basis of reader rated ‘WOW’ scores, and with prices as low as £10 a night, ideas for somewhere unusual to stay can be within reach of us all.

50 of the most outrageous properties are additionally published in the Unusual Hotels of the World coffee table book available at Gounusual.com.
