Kampala Serena Hotel plays host to royalty

The State Suite, which has now been renamed the Royal Suite, was their home during their stay in Kampala for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The Royal Suite has a massive wooden carved door leading into a foyer with four more doors, each leading to a different part of the suite. The main bedroom offers a luxurious king-sized bed, balcony, a large walk-in closet, massive bathroom. On either side of the bed sits carved wooden dance shields used by the Zinza people of western Tanzania, which reflects the hotel’s overall theme of lost African art. There is also a kitchen and a living area with a plush lounge, dining and study area. The sumptuous suite was filled with orchids - rumoured to be one of the Queen’s favourites.
An inspirational blend of 5-star polish and pan-African panache, this 152-room world-class hotel showcases the cream of Ugandan culture while delivering the ultimate in personalized service, international cuisine, social style and business reliability.
Before leaving the hotel, Her Majesty personally thanked the staff and chefs who had accorded impeccable service to the Queens household. Besides hosting the Royal couple and their entourage, the Kampala Serena Hotel also hosted events for the Royal House Hold including banquets, media receptions and luncheons. The highlight was the Heads of States dinner hosted by HM the Queen at the hotels fine dining Pearl of Africa Restaurant.
