Borders hotel tipped as rising star for 2008

A popular Borders hotel has been nominated in the ‘Rising Star’ category of the 2008 Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards in recognition of its fine cuisine and contemporary interiors.

The Townhouse Hotel, Melrose is already well known and loved throughout the Scottish Borders with the nomination further cementing their position as one of the hotels to watch in 2008.

Since its acquisition in early 2004, the Henderson family have systematically transformed the quaint Borders hotel into a modern, boutique residence. Their high standards and sense of style is evident throughout with a pleasing ambience characterising every aspect of the hotel. Modern Scottish cuisine is served either in the formal restaurant or the more relaxed brasserie, using the freshest ingredients and sourcing produce from as locally as possible. As members of the Scottish Beef Club, the beef supplied comes only from Scotland’s most renowned, quality assured farms with lamb coming from the areas green and rolling fields.

The Henderson family own and run Burts Hotel, also in Melrose, which has been nominated in the categories of Informal Dining and the Bar Award 2008. The award winning hotel bistro serves a variety of culinary delights whilst the bar offers an impressive selection of Scotland’s finest whisky.

The Scottish Hotels of the Year Awards, organised by Hotel Review Scotland, is the largest national awards event for the hotel hospitality industry, highlighting excellence and specific achievements in many categories. The 2008 awards are to be judged by a panel of 25 industry experts including Gary McLean, chairman of Hotel Review Scotland and David Young, the former AA Hotels inspector. The winners will be revealed at a glamorous awards ceremony held in February 2008.
