New Leicester Square hotel is hidden gem

The new 4-star deluxe Radisson Edwardian Leicester Square is a hidden gem sure to become a favourite with those looking for a strikingly elegant hotel in the heart of the city. The stylish hotel boasts a cosmopolitan design across its 60 bedrooms, a welcoming bar and stunning seafood café, and even the fitness room and three meeting rooms reflect the flair of the surrounding interiors.
Executive Designer for the group, Michael Attenborough, comments: “The design brief was to create a soft, comfortable setting in which to relax or do business. The mood is stylishly intimate plus the amazing location gives visitors the best of both worlds: a tucked-away retreat central to the West End action. To one side you have the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square and St James’ Park and to the other Leicester Square and theatreland, Soho and Covent Garden – a prime location for experiencing the Capital.”
A colour palette of pale leather and creamy marble in the restaurant and public areas contrasts with striking design pieces such as the zebra striped lacquer tables and the stunning black and white contemporary female busts in the lobby. Attenborough continues, “The hotel offers a stylish and relaxing haven in the heart of an international city. The lines are uncluttered and relaxed and we used animal prints and embossed leathers to add visual detail. We collected some fabulous art and artefacts from around the world to make interesting statements and give a comfortable yet glamorous feel.”
Bedrooms are sleekly furnished in olive green with contrasting velvet throws and cushions, the bathrooms are luxuriously clad in marble and glass, and each room features Bang & Olufsen televisions offering the latest technology at the touch of a button.
The beautifully designed studio suite features 40 square metres of stylish open plan living and working space. The king sized bedroom features a free-standing Philippe Starck bath at the end of the bed, a separate dressing room, an ample walk-in shower and bathroom in sleek black slate. The lilac and beige colour scheme is highlighted by details in metallic silver, such as in the opulently embossed head board and contemporary light fittings.
The bar and restaurant, with just 36 sit down covers for diners, is a tranquil environment in which to eat, drink and relax. Taupe leather armchair seating and black marble topped tables are set in front of floor to ceiling windows to the side. These open onto the street and will offer great summer drinking in a light and airy space.
The menu has a strong focus on seafood, with starters such as peppered pan seared tuna, warm potato salad and olive oil dressing and main courses including roasted grey mullet fillet with citrus crust whilst delectable puddings feature shortbread biscuit with berries and whipped cream or thin apple tart with toffee sauce. Bar snacks and sharing platters include mini cod and chips and a shellfish selection of Mediterranean prawns, cockles and mussels with mayonnaise.
The competitive rates start from just £210 per night.
