New beach bar for Cyprus’ Columbia Beach Resort

8th February 2008 Print
To celebrate the new 2008 holiday season in Cyprus, the Columbia Beach Resort has added a new Beach Bar to its first class facilities in Pissouri Bay. The Resort has an unrivalled position on a 2km Blue Flag beach in this exclusive Bay on the south west coast of the island.

By positioning the Beach Bar adjacent to the beach on landscaped lawns guests can get easy access to casual refreshment with minimum effort.

This luxury hideaway, one of only two Columbia owned hotels in this exclusive bay, is surrounded by rugged cliffs and acres of vineyards in the valleys behind. The distinctive architecture of the Resort is inspired by local Cypriot villages featuring low rise buildings in local stone.

The sloping roofs furnished with reclaimed terracotta tiles and shutters on the windows and abundance of natural wood give the Resort a discreetly aged and traditional look, landscaped so that old and new blend together. The 94 suites in this all-suite hotel are arranged in 'villas' clustered around the 80m lagoon style pool which flows into the acclaimed Columbia Spa.

The atmosphere is calm, luxurious, away from everyday life. Guests enjoy cool marble floors and quality furnishings in natural colours in harmony with the landscape. Some suites have their own plunge pools, all boast the latest wi-fi technology. Bathrooms are large with double sinks, enormous baths and separate showers. This is the ultimate in discreet opulence.

Visitors to the Columbia Beach Resort enjoy Molton Brown guest amenities in all rooms of this all-suite hotel and are able to experience Molton Brown spa “journeys” in the hotel’s spa. The recently added marine-based Phytomer spa range is popular for body contouring and detoxification.

The spa offers five treatment rooms, a spa bath, plunge pool, sauna and steam room as well as a hair salon. The heated swimming pool that dominates this intimate and welcoming spa is flanked by relaxation beds and areas for quiet consultation. This is a paradise for the body and for the soul.

For a more active break the Columbia Spa offers squash and flood-lit tennis courts, a first class gym and an aerobics hall with regular workout sessions and yoga classes, many of which are held on the landscaped lawns outside.

A great range of water-sports is available in the bay including kite-surfing, wind-surfing and Hobie Cat sailing. Reliable mid-strength winds every day from April to November provide the ideal situation for both beginners and the more adept, plus clean warm water and a 2km Blue Flag beach.

Regular complimentary transport provided by the Beach Resort takes golf enthusiasts to the Aphrodite Hills championship course in the vicinity.
