The Chambers awarded ‘Best Restoration’ gong

The boutique development of 62 individually designed apartments for business and leisure travellers, located in the heart of Leeds’ business district, picked up the accolade for ‘Best Restoration of an Historic Building’ at a ceremony at the Queens Hotel in the city.
Christine Boothroyd, owner of The Chambers, said: “It has taken months of painstaking restoration to transform Park Place into one of the region’s most salubrious buildings. Therefore, we are delighted to have been recognised by this fantastic award.
“Whether you are visiting the city for business or leisure it is important that accommodation is made as homely as possible. We believe we have achieved this by sympathetically restoring its original period features, whilst also including contemporary furnishings and appliances throughout.”
In its previous guise, the beautiful, chic 19th Century building was originally home to a clothing company and more latterly offices prior to the start of restoration work in late 2005.
Paul Lawrence from Variety Club Yorkshire, added: “The judges were extremely impressed by the particular attention paid to ensuring the building’s original features have been retained to such a high degree. With their additional modern and sophisticated feel I am sure they will continue to prove very popular.”
The Chambers’ new luxury residence, a restored 19th Century building on Park Place, has 62 luxury apartments, a grand lobby reception, three state-of-the-art meeting rooms and conference facilities, including the Maurice Paynel Suite, as well as a residents’ gym. Its website - Morethanjustabed.com has also been re-launched.
The company was the first to establish a serviced apartment brand in Leeds when it opened in November 2003.
