Borders hotel wins Informal Dining Award 2008

A leading family run hotel, located in the Scottish Borders, has won the Informal Dining Award at the Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards 2008. This is the third consecutive year Burts Hotel has received recognition for its outstanding cuisine.

Owner Nick Henderson commented; “We are delighted to have been recognised once again for the excellent staff we have in our kitchen. It is important that the independent, family run hotels continue to be commended for the standards we offer and we are thrilled to be one of only a handful in the Borders to have received awards.”

Burts Hotel, located in the picturesque Borders town of Melrose, has long been renowned for its excellent cuisine which comes highly recommended by guests, food guides and critics alike. A daily changing table d’hote menu is served in the elegant hotel restaurant, whilst lunch and supper menus can be served in the more informal, relaxed atmosphere of the hotel bistro.

Head Chef Alasdair Stewart utilises only the finest quality ingredients, with produce and meat sourced as locally as possible, using the changing menu to compliment and reflect the Scottish seasons.

Burts also offers an extensive wine list and a choice of 90 hand selected malt whiskies.

Another family run hotel in the Scottish Borders, the Buccleuch Arms Hotel in St Boswels, was also recognised for its excellence and was awarded the Scottish Inn of the Year 2008.
