Rocky Gap Golf Resort introduces instructional programs

Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort (Maryland) – home to the state’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course – has introduced the 2008 Rocky Gap Youth Golf Academy instructional program.

Head Professional Rick Flowers offers expert training and oversees the program. The initial phase will begin with one-hour clinics conducted each Saturday morning starting March 29 at 10:30 a.m. The junior golf clinic season will conclude Aug. 30. The resort also anticipates offering a three-day golf camp during the season with dates to be announced at a later date.

The program is available to all juniors ages 6 to 15 and the cost is $10 per session or $150 for the entire season – with 23 summer sessions offered. These clinics will cover all aspects of the game including rules, proper etiquette, the golf swing, putting, sand play and much more. Flowers and his staff of teaching professionals will give a 10-15 minute demonstration at the outset of each session, followed by one-on-one instruction and hitting range balls. Equipment is available for kids without clubs

In addition to the Youth Golf Academy, Rocky Gap is rolling out a Tuesday evening women’s golf clinic and offers private lessons, video swing analysis and on-course instruction as well. On-course instruction is designed to lower a student's scores by educating them to become more efficient with the on-course management of their golf games. Swing lessons take place on the driving range only.
