Osprey Meadows - Idaho’s best course

13th March 2008 Print
Tamarack Resort today announces its award-winning Osprey Meadows Golf Course has been named No. 1 in Golfweek’s annual state-by-state ranking of public access courses.

Golfweek sends approximately 400 “America’s Best” raters in search of the country’s finest golf courses. Those raters submit ballots grading on a 10-point scale and the scores for each course are averaged to get the overall rating. The ranking takes into account overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety and memorability of holes, conditioning and maintenance, landscape management and other criteria.

“Idaho is flush with some of the most beautiful golf courses in the country and for Osprey Meadows to be named the state’s best course the public can play speaks volumes of the design,” says Director of Golf Tom Altmann. “This ranking is indicative of everything at Tamarack Resort, which has had a mandate to be the best across the board from inception.”

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Osprey Meadows boasts breathtaking views of the Payette River Mountains while winding through lush meadows and kissing the shores of Lake Cascade. Featuring a unique combination of five par 5s, five par 3s and eight par 4s, Osprey Meadows also was named the “Best New Public Course $75 and over” for 2006 by Golf Digest.

In addition to championship golf at Osprey Meadows – which recently achieved the highly sought-after Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program certification – Tamarack Resort offers fine dining, the luxurious Santé Spa, guided whitewater rafting, zipline tours and IMBA-designed biking trails. The winter comes alive with 42 ski runs, rolling kilometers of Nordic and snowshoeing, a 450-foot long and a 22-foot high superpipe – Hells Canyon.
