Swissôtel raises money for children’s charity

The 10th anniversary party for the Swissôtel Métropole Geneva attracted a great many celebrities and generated an impressive volume of donations: from the famous football player Christian Karambeu and his wife model Adriana through the French actress Marlene Jobert, the comedian Michel Leeb and his daughter, the jazz singer Fanny Leeb, to Miss Swiss Romande Ivana Dugalic along with 150 invited guests – all enjoyed a lively celebration of the very highest standard.

The highlight of the evening was the auction with valuable prizes; this resulted in no less than CHF 130,000.00 being collected for the charity SOS Children’s villages, supported by Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts since 1999.

“I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to hand over such an impressive sum to Michael Bader, the President of SOS Children’s Villages Switzerland, on the occasion of our anniversary,” declared Thierry Lavalley, General Manager at Swissôtel Métropole Geneva. “The exclusive prizes, such as stays at Swissôtel The Bosphorus Istanbul or Swissôtel Grand Shanghai, airline tickets, valuable watches or our vase signed by 83 celebrities contributed to this stunning result. The entire sum is being made available to SOS Children’s Village Termitaou in Kazakhstan and I am looking forward to visiting personally this children’s village soon.”

The enjoyable and diverting evening was rounded off with a trio of French magicians, a shadow puppet show, and an exquisite gala dinner with wines from Château Cheval Blanc and Château d’Yquem, whose director Pierre Lurton explained the prestigious wines. On leaving gifts were given to each guest in the form of black kitchen aprons bearing the 10th anniversary logo of Swissôtel Métropole.
