A new standard of luxury for Dublin

Commenting on the refurbishment, Jurys Doyle CEO Bill Walshe, said “This multi million euro investment marks the rebirth of The Westbury, and is intended to consolidate the hotel’s position as Dublin’s most popular luxury hotel. It is also evidence of our intent to reposition our entire portfolio of hotels upscale, and to clearly position The Westbury for the long term as a ‘flagship’ of our Group and a true landmark of luxury.”
The refurbishment programme covers all areas of the hotel, and commenced last year with a complete redesign and furnishing of the hotel’s ballroom, meeting rooms and standard bedrooms. The new look of the hotel’s lobby, which for many years has been the venue of choice for a wide cross section of Ireland’s society, will offer a more contemporary interpretation of the classically elegant surroundings that the hotel is famous for. The hotel’s stunning new bar, The Marble Bar, is also revealed to coincide with the launch of the new lobby, and is a triumph of contemporary luxury design.
The remaining bedrooms and suites will be complete by May next, and work commences this week on the creation of a market leading new restaurant in the location of the hotel’s existing Russell Room restaurant. The new restaurant will open in early May. Jurys Doyle CEO Walshe, who joined the Group last July from Dubai uber-luxury hotel group Jumeirah, has collaborated with a former colleague, John Wood, a career multi Michelin Star recipient and former Executive Chef at the famed Burj Al Arab to transform the hotel’s food and beverage experience.
The final stage of the comprehensive renewal of the hotel will see the arrival experience, and ground floor restaurant The Sandbank renovated during the coming summer months.
Once complete the newly refurbished Westbury will continue to offer a premium experience, however, everything from the impressive lobby to the stylish bedrooms will clearly demonstrate the Company’s commitment to delivering the highest standards in luxury design excellence and service, as befits Dublin’s most stylishly located hotel.
Jurys Doyle Hotels employed Denis Looby from Dublin based Sheehan & Barry Architects to develop the hotel design concept that is best described as ‘understated elegance’. Plans include the installation of a substantial art collection including works by Irish artists Louis le Brocquy, Nora McGuinness, John Shinnors, Patrick Scott and Barrie Cooke. To ensure a memorably luxurious experience at the hotel, premium brands such as George Smith furniture, Aqua Di Parma, Sealy, Frette and Nespresso will now all become part of the guest experience at the new Westbury, a member of The Leading Hotels of The World.
Commenting further, Walshe stated “We look forward to welcoming discerning Irish and international guests and visitors to The Westbury Hotel for many years to come, and to delivering to them an outstanding luxury experience”
