Turtle conservation in Thailand

13th May 2008 Print
For summer 2008, Trips Worldwide introduces the Aleenta Resort & Spa, a small, luxury boutique hotel with big green credentials, thanks to its ongoing commitment to marine turtle conservation. From now until October, Trips Worldwide is offering 7-night stays at the Aleenta Resort for the price of 5 - daily departures are available from London.

Lying on the unspoilt Natai Beach just 15 minutes away from Thailand's beautiful Phang Nga Bay, the Aleenta Resort & Spa has just 15 suites and a handful of villas, all blending seamlessly into the surroundings and within steps of the ocean. Excellent facilities include a swimming pool, Aleenta Spa with a full range of pampering treatments, a fine dining restaurant and ‘The Living Room’ - a lounge with an open-air bar overlooking the sea.

It’s not all about self-indulgent luxury though, Atleenta is a hotel with a conscience and is committed to turtle conservation. The hotel not only employs a full-time representative to work alongside staff at the nearby turtle sanctuary in Khao Lumpee-Haad Thaymuang National Park, but gives financial support too. The sanctuary houses all four species of marine turtle currently found in Thailand - Leatherback, Olive Ridley, Hawksbill and Green Turtle, and each year hundreds of baby turtles emerge from the sandy shore.

Hotel guests can visit the spectacular park and see firsthand, staff at the sanctuary tending to hatchlings and rehabilitating injured turtles, part of the ongoing conservation of Thailand’s marine turtles.

The holiday also includes a 3-night stay in Bangkok at the Banyan Tree Bangkok in a premier room.

The holiday costs from £1,571 p/p including flights, transfers, 3-night’s accommodation with breakfast at the Banyon Tree Bangkok and 7-nights at the Aleenta Resort & Spa with breakfast (includes 2 free nights) plus a visit to the turtle sanctuary.
