Imaginative cultural tours for Autumn

Independent luxury tour operator, Prestige Holidays, is offering special interest holidays to Rome, France, Spain, Italy and Turkey this autumn through tours specialist, The Travellers’ Club.

These imaginative cultural tours lead in at just £945 for the seven day Eternal Rome tour which runs from 16-23 September and includes flights, seven nights BB accommodation and guided visits. The tour reveals some of the ancient city’s many archaeological, architectural and artistic treasures including the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Vatican. Participants will also explore the delights of the nearby countryside with a visit to Tivoli.

Prestige Holidays is offering a fascinating tour of Roman France from 29 September to 6th October for £1095 per person including travel by train from London and in France, transfers, five nights in Avignon and two in Lyon both on BB with guided visits. Highlights of the tour are the temple in Nimes and the amphitheatres in Arles and Nimes. The church of St Trophime in Arles with its superb Romanesque sculpture and the Cathedral and Palace in Avignon which were built for the Popes in Exile.

From 15-24 September, travellers can follow in the footsteps of countless pilgrims in Spain and take the road from Burgos to Santiago de Compostella via the great pilgrim churches and dramatic scenery. This culturally rich tour costs just £1995 per person and includes nine nights half board accommodation in the best four and five star Paradors, return flights and transport by coach in Spain.

Another tour on offer is “Sicily – the Cultural Crossroads of the Mediterranean. This tour takes in the art and architectural riches of Sicily from Greek Temples to Roman Mosaics and from Norman Cathedrals to Baroque Palazzi. The cost for this eight night tour (14-22nd October) is £1175 including flights to Palermo and return from Catania, BB accommodation, four dinners, all transport and touring by coach, entrance fees and guides.

Travellers interested in exploring Turkey’s rich history will enjoy the Ottoman capitals tour of Istanbul, Bursa and Edirne (5 October to 14th October). The tour costs £1385 per person including: return flights, BB accommodation and transport in Turkey.

Highlights include visits to Bursa’s imperial mosques and tombs of the 14th and 15th centuries and the chance to see Justinian’s magnificent cathedral, Haghia Sophia and the Byzantine Cistern; the Sultans’ Topkapi Palace with its Seraglio and treasury in Istanbul.
