Hotel inspector returns to family at war

Tara Howard managing director of the Langtry Manor Hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset (described by the Guardian newspaper as the 'Best Hotel in Bournemouth') allowed television crews to invade the former home of King Edward VII and his mistress Lillie Langtry and show them the real perspective of running their hotel where service and attention to detail are important to the whole team.
'The Hotel Inspector' will feature a domineering mother Pamela, and her wilful daughter Tara, passionately struggling to balance traditional standards with modern expectations and new décor and they have come back to the hotel to see who has won the battle and what has happened since their first visit.
As a part of the original selection process, a screen test was conducted at the Langtry Manor Hotel with both and Tara and Pamela. The programme makers must have felt they had ‘hit gold’ when within the five minute interview tensions became apparent. They knew immediately they had an attention grabbing story to portray and started filming at the hotel within the week.
When Tara was asked how she came to be part of the show she replied "It seems a bit strange to be an hotelier who has never watched a programme called “The Hotel Inspector”, however, anyone who runs a hotel knows full well that there isn’t much time for watching television, and as well as running the hotel I am married with four children so my hands are full 24/7.
When I received the call to be featured in the programme I innocently thought it would be a nice little programme about an hotel inspectors visit, bearing in mind that whenever the inspector calls on us he is always positive and complimentary, so what harm could there be in accepting?"
When asked, ‘What was the best part of having appeared in the programme?’ Tara had to say, “Putting aside the practical and much appreciated advice from Ruth it has to be getting my kit off in the new Jacuzzi for the camera,” (well it was definitely the most memorable experience!) as well as all the attention I received. Can you imagine little old me, a wife, a mother of four children and 40 year of age getting fan mail from all over the world – what an ego boost that is not to mention the valuable publicity for the hotel too!”
Audiences will be able to see what has happened since The Hotel Inspector first came to visit and can make their own minds up about, The Langtry Manor and its leading ladies, Pamela and Tara by tuning into The Hotel Inspector on Channel 5 on 21st May.
