Something for everyone at The Territory
The Territory Golf and Country Club in Southwest Oklahoma – home to a nationally acclaimed Randy Heckenkemper design – continues to add to its top-of-the-bell-curve amenities. With the entire family in mind, owners Rick and Barbara Braught have added a multi-purpose sport court and a croquet lawn.“From the very beginning, we’ve wanted to ensure a family-friendly atmosphere here at The Territory,” says Rick Braught. “From the parents to their sons and daughters, there’s something for everyone.”
In addition to the croquet lawn and sport court – which can be adjusted for basketball, volleyball or tennis – The Territory offers members and guests “dive-in movies” at the swimming pool and wine/dinner events for the adults. A luxurious tour bus also transports members to and from events close to home or across the region.
The modified target-style golf course features five sets of tees – ranging from 4,845 to 7,110 yards, A1-A4 creeping bentgrass greens and Tifsport Bermudagrass fairways and roughs, with native vegetation framing the playing corridors.
Named a Top 50 Residential Course by Golfweek and one of Oklahoma’s best courses by Golf Digest, The Territory has hosted the Oklahoma State Amateur, Oklahoma State Senior Amateur, an NCAA Division II Super Regional and the 2008 Halliburton Southwest Oklahoma Championship – a stop on the Adams Pro Golf Tour Series.
While the national recognition continues to stream in, The Territory has not rested on its laurels. In addition to additional amenities and continued enhancements to the course, the practice facility, which boasts a three-hole practice course, has seen recent improvements to the target greens.
Also new to The Territory this season is a pair of stay-and-play homes with two spacious bedrooms, living room, full kitchen and bath; providing comfortable accommodations for up to four people. Rates start at $175 per person, per night and include one round of golf per night’s stay, with additional rounds costing the current guest fee.
Not only is The Territory within a short drive of lakes for boating and fishing and mere minutes from a pair of schools, shopping, dining and churches, but also the nearby Duncan Regional Hospital was named to the Solucient Top 100 Hospitals – a list of more than 3,000 hospitals that identifies industry benchmarks by recognizing U.S. hospitals that have achieved excellence in quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance and adaptation to the environment.
