Lake District hotel to host world’s biggest coffee morning

In support of Macmillan Cancer Support, Linthwaite House, a boutique hotel in the heart of the Lake District, will be hosting their own ‘all day’ coffee morning on 26 September 2008 as part of the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ with 50% of the proceedings going to the charity.

Offering something a little different, Linthwaite will be serving coffee and an ‘all you can eat’ selection of scrumptious cupcakes at a cost £4.95/person for the entire day.

Appreciating that offers of this sort can prove irresistible, the hotel have also organised special garden tours around the 14 acres property with their trusty gardener, Colin Slinger, to help work off a few of those extra calories.

Sue McDonald, Cumbria Fundraising Manager, Macmillan Cancer Support commented: “It’s fantastic to have local businesses, like Linthwaite House, coming up with such great ideas for the coffee morning. With this type of local support, we will hopefully be on target for raising £88,500 in Cumbia this year.”

Situated on a gentle hillside with stunning views over Lake Windermere and the surrounding fells, coffee and cupcakes will be taken on the lovely outdoor terrace in the sunshine or, if need be, more cosily snuggled up in the lounge in front of one of the blazing fires.

Guests, of a more athletic nature, might also like to build up an appetite before coffee and take advantage of this wonderful area with a brisk walk into Bowness village or along one of the many trails easily accessed from the hotel before indulging in Linthwaite’s delicious offerings.

The ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ was set up by the Macmillian Cancer Support. It aims to raise over £8.5 million this year to assist people affected by cancer by holding coffee mornings throughout the UK. See Macmillan.org.uk for more details.
