Londa Hotel in Cyprus hosts top new comedienne Winner of this year’s NIVEA Funny Women Awards, Katherine Ryan will be performing exclusively at the Londa Hotel in Limassol for one night only on Saturday 8 November. Katherine is the latest artist to appear at the Londa Hotel in a series of events featuring top British female comedy talent from leading promoters of female comedy, Funny Women.

This is the second year that this award-winning hotel has featured female comedy acts as part of its entertainment for guests and local visitors.

Canadian by birth, Katherine moved to the UK just under a year ago to pursue a comedy career. She explains that “comedy in the UK is the best in the world”.

As a former children’s TV presenter as well as a stand-up comedian she impressed the judges at the recent NIVEA Funny Women Awards final at the Comedy Store in London, where she was depicted as being “confident and witty with some inspired material”.

Katherine explains, “My comedic style has been described as having a sugary, sweet edge which quite accurately reflects my outlook on life. For me, finding the humour in dark realities is the best way to de-vilify them, and that’s what I try to communicate to audiences.”

Jochen Niemann, General Manager of the Londa explains, “The comedy evenings that we have hosted here have been a great success. The last guest comedian to perform, Shazia Mirza, was so popular that we added another date for her show. Our designer contemporary boutique hotel with its lively outlets is the perfect place for this type of entertainment, and our exclusive partnership with Funny Women means that the Londa is the only place in Cyprus to see some of the best names on the comedy scene.”

Funny Women runs the UK’s only dedicated new talent competition for female comedy talent and is now in its 6th year. Their awards have become a platform for launching the careers of a great number of artistes. The Londa has been a partner in the awards for three years, providing a prize of a week’s luxury holiday for two at this 5 star boutique hotel in Limassol. Flights are provided courtesy of Classic Collection Holidays.

The show starts at 8.30 pm in the Alpha Omega Ballroom. Kindly note that there are a limited number of seats available for this performance. A cover charge of €8.50 will apply and all proceeds will be donated to the Cyprus Anticancer Society, anticancersociety.org.cy.

All Funny Women events aim to raise money and awareness for causes that affect women. For more information, see Funnywomen.com and Londahotel.com.
