Zip off for a champagne beach experience

23rd September 2008 Print
Champagne and rum lovers will be especially impressed by the new 50 room Cap Maison boutique resort which is now fully open in St Lucia. Fizz quaffers need not be too far away from their favourite tipple even when they are sunbathing on Maison Roc, alongside the resort’s beach.

All they have to do is raise the champagne flag and in no time a bottle of fizz along with the appropriate number of glasses will be flying down the unique Champagne Zip Wire which links the hotel’s bar to the decked rock!

The resort also has the first ‘rummier’ in the Caribbean. Wine sommeliers can be found around the world but only at Cap Maison is there a rummier to recommend selections from Cap Maison’s impressive list of 28 different rums drawn from nine islands. The rums available range from Jamaica’s Wray & Nephew White Overproof for $6 dollars a shot to the classic aged in oak and charcoal filtered Bacardi Anejo for $27!

Ross Stevenson, General Manager of Cap Maison, commented: “We have two firsts here for champagne and rum lovers. The champagne zip wire means your fizz arrives in style.

“Our rummier is there to take you on a journey around the Caribbean sampling some of the best rums available. We haven’t forgotten traditional wine lovers either! They can enjoy our walk in wine cellar where there will be tastings and wine & food pairing dinners every Saturday evening.”

Cap Maison is built on a cliff top above a secluded sandy beach and offers beautiful views over to historic Pigeon Island and across to the neighbouring island of Martinique. Its elevated setting affords panoramic land and sea views, by day it is breathtaking and after dark the unobstructed views of the night sky are seriously romantic.

Accommodation is in villa suites, studio/junior suites and rooms, all of which will have Valet service. All rooms and suites have the 21st century convenience of plasma screen televisions, DVD players, stereos and internet.

Guests are pampered by resort valets and private chefs are available to cook in individual Villas and serve dinner on the private terraces. Other services and facilities include a luxury spa and a fine dining cliff top restaurant overseen by St Lucian chef Craig Russell-Jones serving French Caribbean cuisine at its seasonal best.
