Five-star resort appoints first class chefs New Zealand’s five-star Millbrook Resort in Queenstown has appointed two first class chefs to add the ‘wow’ factor to its food and beverage operations. Award winning chefs Mark Gregory and Russell Heron have been appointed in leadership roles, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the resort.

Mark Gregory has been brought on board in an overall ‘mentoring’ role for the resort’s three key restaurants and bars, while Russell Heron joins Millbrook as Executive Chef.

Mr Gregory is a highly regarded executive chef from the UK with more than 28 years’ experience in the hospitality industry.

He has won numerous awards including British Chef of the Year in 1988, a Culinary Olympic Gold Medal in Germany, five gold medals in ‘Top Chef Hotelolympia’, and being awarded French Master Chef status in 1987.

“Mark is not only an accomplished chef but also a very astute businessman so we’re extremely privileged to have someone of his calibre at Millbrook,” said Millbrook Sales and Marketing Manager Sarah Stacey.

Russell Heron is an experienced chef with more than 13 years’ experience. Previously at Auckland’s SkyCity Orbit restaurant, he joins Millbrook on November 4.

“He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Millbrook Resort and we are delighted to have him on board as Executive Chef,” said Ms Stacey.

In 2001 Russell was runner up in the New Zealand Commis Chef of the Year competition and in 2002 he was appointed New Zealand Young Culinarian of the Year, awarded by the New Zealand Chefs Association. He has also been a member of many award winning restaurant teams.

“The food and beverage team is looking forward to welcoming him at the start of our busy summer season,” said Ms Stacey.
