Antonio Cerilli appointed Restaurant Manager at Number Twelve
Antonio Cerilli has been appointed Restaurant Manager at Number Twelve restaurant, Bloomsbury. An Italian wine connoisseur, Cerilli will be in charge of the front of house at Number Twelve, where Santino Busciglio is Executive Chef.Cerilli is loves his job, and brings charm and charisma with him to Number Twelve. He says; “the key to continuing and enhancing the success of Number Twelve is hard work, passion and impeccable timing!”. Cerilli originally met Santino Busciglio while they worked together at the Green Olive restaurant in Little Venice.
Originally from Fiuggi, south of Rome, Italy, Cerilli has lived in the UK for 13 years, having fallen in love with London. Cerilli has been working in the industry for thirty years, originally developing his passion for wine and the restaurant industry while working as a sommelier in Rome.
During his extensive career, Cerilli has been the head sommelier at La Pont de la Tour restaurant and has been in charge of wine buying for Ciborio wine as well.
Cerilli’s favourite type of wine is Barolo, an Italian wine, produced in the south west of Alba, within the region of Piemonte, and claims the title ‘wine of kings, and king of wines’. For connoisseurs it is Italy's most collected wine; for beginners it is a difficult one to understand. Cerilli holds the Diploma from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust – London Sommelier professionale preso a Roma and is a member of the Italian Sommelier Association.
Number Twelve is a modern Italian restaurant and bar which opened at 12 Upper Woburn Place, London WC1 on October 8th 2007, with head chef Santino Busciglio looking after the kitchen. Number Twelve was nominated for Best Italian Restaurant at the 2008 London Restaurant Awards. The restaurant offers a sophisticated yet accessible dining experience in an area well located for both the West End and the new Eurostar terminal at St Pancras station.
