1 in 10 Brits have missed a flight
Getting to the airport can be stressful, but research revealed today shows that 13 percent of Brits have missed their flights, with traffic and public transport issues most frequently being blamed for lateness. More than 1 in 3 were forced to buy a new ticket (38%), with many paying over £300 for the replacement (10%).The research, conducted by YouGov for the Ramada London Heathrow hotel, revealed almost half (45%) of those who missed a flight were holiday makers, jetting off to the sunshine for family breaks.
Martin Taylor, General Manager at the Ramada London Heathrow commented, “As the price of flights and taxes increase and holiday makers feel the pinch, a costly extra flight is really the last thing the public needs. Getting to the airport with the family in tow is bound to be stressful, but planning ahead and staying at the Ramada London Heathrow means you’ll already be there the day before you fly”.
The research revealed the top 3 reasons for missing flights included:
- Traffic or public transport
- Problems with parking
- Forgotten date or time of flight
