Shangri-La celebrates Vancouver opening

Shangri-La celebrates Vancouver opening British Columbia, Canada, has welcomed luxury hotel group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' first hotel in North America this month. To mark its 60th property worldwide and to celebrate the opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver on January 24 2009, the “Introducing Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver” package has been specially created for visitors.

The “Introducing Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver” package, available from January 24 to March 31, 2009, encourages guests to discover all that Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver has to offer. Room rates, starting at CAD$345, plus 16.5 per cent tax, include a CAD$100 credit, per stay, towards any service or facility within the hotel. For guests booking a suite, a CAD$200 credit applies.

Two focal points for use of this credit are MARKET by Jean-Georges, the hotel’s signature restaurant featuring the regional cuisine of three-star Michelin chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, with its holistic approach to well-being inspired by the philosophies and traditions of China and the Himalayas. Other options include the Lobby Lounge, in-room dining or time with a personal trainer in the hotel’s fitness facility, Studeo5.

Additionally, beginning January 24 and running through May 31, guests booking three consecutive paid nights will be offered a complimentary fourth night. This can be used in conjunction with the “Introducing Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver” package.

The 119-room Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver is set in Vancouver’s downtown core at the intersection of West Georgia and Thurlow Street. The hotel occupies the first 15 floors of a new 61-story landmark building, a multi-purpose complex built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver building standards, incorporating innovative residential living, high-end retail shopping, signature restaurants and an outdoor public art space curated by the Vancouver Art Gallery.
