Rutland Hotel wins Best New Scottish Hotel

In addition, the iconic four star property was a runner-up in the Scottish Boutique Hotel of the Year and Rising Star Hotel of the Year categories.
Sponsored and managed by HotelReview Scotland, the awards are in their sixth year. Between November 2008 and January 2009, the public cast more than 20,000 votes in a total of 50 categories.
Nic Wood, who runs the hotel jointly with his brother Garreth as part of their Signature Pub Group, commented: “We’re delighted to have won three awards in our first year at The Rutland, especially against such strong competition.
“It’s a great accolade for the whole team and shows that Edinburgh has truly embraced the new Rutland Hotel with its contemporary and stylish yet comfortable design.
“We’re particularly happy that The One Below, our lounge club, has been voted Best Bar. It goes to show that transferring this concept from New York, Paris and Los Angeles to Edinburgh has been a great success.”
Awards organiser Robert Gilmour said: “Our awards help showcase the very best of Scottish hospitality to visitors looking for information online and we hope that winners like The Rutland Hotel will benefit from the exposure gained this way.”
The Rutland Hotel was bought by the Signature Pub Group in 2007 and re-opened its doors in July 2008 following a £4m refurbishment. Part of the 12 bedroom boutique hotel is its first floor restaurant with views over the city centre and Edinburgh castle, a ground floor bar offering space for 120 and its lounge club, The One Below.
