Luxury lodge sets a high standard in Wanaka

A Wanaka lodge has struck gold, becoming the first accommodation provider in the area to be awarded both Qualmark’s 5 star grading and the prestigious Enviro-Gold rating.

Maple Lodge is the only accommodation in Wanaka to attain Tourism New Zealand’s quality ratings for its commitment to sustainable practices and for being an exceptional accommodation provider.

Paul Raymont, owner of Maple Lodge, said the Enviro-Gold rating recognised the luxury boutique lodge’s commitment to the environment which started at the initial planning stages of building the lodge.

“My wife Bernadette and I opened Maple Lodge in 2007 and during every stage of design and construction we gave careful consideration to creating an energy-efficient building,” he said.

This has been carried through into the day-to-day operation of the business. As well as best practice building methods, initiatives include energy saving, recycling and those which allow guests to contribute to sustainability without compromising the luxury and comfort of the lodge.
