Power breakfasts make a comeback at Cape Town hotel
Business personalities, politicians and visitors to Cape Town are finding that the best venue to arrange morning meetings and leisurely rendezvous’ is at the Vineyard Hotel & Spa’s stylish Square Restaurant.Refuelling on a healthy breakfast ahead of a busy day’s schedule has been planned to perfection by the Square Restaurant’s food & beverage team and offers a veritable feast for the lean corporate go-getter to the holiday-maker seeking a leisurely morning meal of a top international standard.
Since renovating, refurbishing and rebranding in 2007 - The Square Restaurant has become somewhat of central meeting hub in the leafy Southern Suburbs of the Mother City. Whether you prefer a sumptuous buffet-styled continental breakfast, a traditional hot breakfast or something light - you can be assured that The Square offers something for everyone.
Creating a healthy smorgasbord of tastes for an international audience was no easy task and thus dietician Jean Mills was called in to consult on the project.
From the buffet there is an extensive variety of choice including a selection of freshly baked Danish pastries from the kitchen, local cheeses, cold cuts as well as freshly squeezed fruit juices and even homemade free range Bulgarian yoghurt. There is also an awesome selection of fresh fruits sliced on demand, homemade mueslis, slivers of salmon and salmon trout, honeycomb, berry compote, cereals and porridge and home-baked breads, muffins and scones.
Traditional a la carte menu options include ‘best hits’ such as Eggs Benedict, Smoked Haddock with Poached Eggs on bubble and squeak, Grilled Scottish Kippers with Parsley Butter and Lemon and of course favourites such as salmon and scrambled eggs or a traditional South African fry up. For those with a more adventurous breakfast palate there are, Belgian Waffles with Grilled Banana, vanilla ice-cream and Maple Syrup or a savoury meal of Egg Fried Rice with Chicken, Cashew Nuts and Thai Condiments.
The a la Carte menu options include a health breakfast option, a fresh fruit platter selection or a Continental Breakfast platter – consisting of cold meats, local cheeses, smoked salmon, croissants, orange juice as well as tea or coffee.
The a la carte dishes are priced from R60.00 – R75.00, while the Continental Breakfast costs R98.00 per person and the traditional breakfast (which includes the continental selection) is priced at R125.00 per person.
The Square Restaurant is a beautiful symbiosis of glass, steel, wood and light expanded over two floors and a glass wall shows off the original manor and the ceiling boasts state-of-the-art glass beams. With its ample parking, in the shadow of Table Mountain - and set within six-magnificent-acres of surrounding landscaped gardens and bordering the Liesbeeck River it’s no wonder that The Square has become a breakfast venue of choice for both business and leisure visitors.
