Heineken Cup trophy comes to The Rutland

22nd May 2009 Print
Drop into The Rutland Bar in Edinburgh’s West End before Saturday’s all-important Heineken Cup final and you could have your picture taken with the actual trophy.

Exclusive to the venue, rugby fans can get up close and personal with the cup between 11am and 2pm, before Leicester and Leinster battle it out for the title at Murrayfield stadium. The trophy will be exhibited in the bar’s window with Edinburgh castle as a dramatic background.

Co-director Nic Wood said: “We’re ecstatic to be the only venue Heineken have trusted with the cup and to be able to show it to our guests.

“The Rutland has always been a real favourite with rugby fans because it’s such a great spot to meet up with friends before heading out to the stadium.”

On Saturday, the landmark Georgian building will be dressed especially for the final and the bar itself will be decked out to mark the occasion.

The bar is open daily from 10am, serving morning coffee and fresh juices. The venue also offers light dishes throughout the day as well as serving a wide range of premium beers (including Heineken), wines and spirits. Following a £4m transformation masterminded by new owners Signature Pub Group, it was re-opened in summer 2008.
