A new view from the Athenaeum

Created by Patrick Blanc, internationally renowned botanist and horticultural superstar, this outdoor living tapestry features over 260 plant types collected from all over the world, creating a bridge between the urban and natural worlds - ‘a breath of wilderness in the midst of the city’.
The Athenaeum’s visual transformation continues inside, thanks to the award winning interior decorator Martin Hulbert of Fox Linton. Today the new style expresses the Athenaeum’s personality; it is warm and personal, surprising and contemporary. There are creative touches at every turn…mini red London buses sport rhyming Cockney slang… cheeky yet tasteful vintage Playboy covers from the 1960s and ‘70s… 2,000 pearly buttons evoke Cockney Pearly Kings and Queens.
The look and feel is utterly English and inspired by the hotel’s enviable location in Mayfair overlooking Green Park. New floor to ceiling windows bathe the rooms in natural light and Juliet balconies enable breathtaking views of the park. The Rooftop Suite on the 10th floor provides a deluxe haven for the most privileged of guests. The view is spectacular, spanning right across from St Pauls Cathedral to Chelsea Harbour and can even be enjoyed from the shower!
A true home from home, guests needs are anticipated and they are ensured the service and comforts that make them feel instantly relaxed. Luxurious bedding and a pillow menu ensure that guests have the best night’s sleep. A long history of traditional hospitality, personal attention and discretion are just some of the reasons why many guests and celebrities stay at the Athenaeum time and time again..
As a family run hotel, the Athenaeum understands that when the kids are happy, the parents are happy. The newly launched Kids Concierge will get in touch with guests before they arrive to see what can be done to ensure their stay is extra special. They do their best to get tickets for that special show or concert and put into the rooms all sorts of things for arrival… great books and toys appropriate for their age, X.box, Playstation, Wii and Baby Einstein. Child-sized bathrobes and slippers are provided, and each evening just before bedtime staff knock on the door with complimentary milk and home baked cookies.
The Athenaeum’s proudest hidden secret is the 34 individually designed townhouse apartments. From uber chic to traditional English, these are the perfect choice for independent living, featuring their own entrance in a traditional Mayfair street, with all the comforts of the hotel’s five star services, beautifully epitomizing the hotel’s ethos of ‘ home from home’.
The Athenaeum, Mayfair’s discrete retreat, unveiled its brand new look in May 2009. The hotel has launched the ‘Rooftop Suite’, which is a three-bedroom penthouse with panoramic views across London. The bedrooms and suites have been remodeled with the installation of floor to ceiling windows and Juliet balconies and have been equipped with the latest technology from plasma-screen TVs, Bose docking stations to high speed Wi-Fi access.
Many friendly five star services have been added to create the ‘Your London Home’ experience including Kids Concierge and Complimentary Mini-Bar.
The Athenaeum has 111 bedrooms, 12 suites and 34 apartments together with Restaurant, Garden Room, Whisky Room, Spa, Gym and Hair Salon.
