17th July 2009 Print
Mandarin Oriental Munich celebrates Brandhorst Museum With the opening of The Brandhorst Museum, Mandarin Oriental, Munich is delighted to announce the Brandhorst Package, which gives guests exclusive and private tours of the museum’s world-class exhibition.

The museum displays more than 700 pieces of exquisite and influential modern and contemporary art which the Brandhorst family have collected over the past 50 years. The collection has been labelled as one of the largest and most influential exhibitions in Europe: there are paintings by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys, Bruce Nauman and Damien Hirst to name a few. The museum also houses important literary works including 112 original editions of books illustrated by Picasso.

The 12,100 square metre building, which was designed by Berlin-based architects Sauerbruch Hutton, is truly impressive and looks like an abstract painting itself, complementing and enhancing the exhibition.

The multi-coloured façade is clad in 36,000 ceramic rods in 23 different colours, arranged vertically over a horizontally striped, metal skin.

Mandarin Oriental, Munich is delighted to offer guests private tours with specialist art guides who will inform them about the history of the collection and the building’s special architectural features.
