Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has upgraded the duty-free shopping experience for its passengers with the appointment of Duty Free Air & Ship Supply (DFASS) to run its concessions. The agreement which comes into effect on January 1, 2009 will mean customers are now able to choose from a new and expanded range of products on board.

The new partnership will offer passengers in-flight shopping onboard flights to all 39 Gulf Air destinations, including Intra Gulf routes.

Björn Näf commented, "The move to appoint DFASS as the concessionaire is consistent with Gulf Air's objective of focusing on its customers.

"We will be working with DFASS to streamline and improve our existing service whilst exploring a number of new opportunities for our customers, including pre-order and mail order through the Internet.

"We are confident DFASS has the global reach and knowledge to run our on-board duty free service, and to meet our future demands as Gulf Air continues with its growth and expansion plans" concluded Mr. Naf.

DFASS CEO Benny Klepach commented, "We see this as a very exciting opportunity for the company. Gulf Air has ambitious expansion plans, as we do for this region. We're delighted to be working with them and their new in-flight retail team."
