Gulf Air wins 'Superbrands' award

Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air has been declared a 2009 'Superbrand' at the annual gala Superbrands awards held in Dubai recently.

A panel of 12 Superbrand Council Members together with the votes of some 500 CEOs and members of senior management from several corporate establishments in the region adjudged Gulf Air as a "Superbrand".

Gulf Air won this award in competition with over 1800 established brands in the region including several airlines such as Air Arabia, Air India, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, KLM, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.

"This award has proved once again Gulf Air is one of the most powerful brands amid intense competition," said Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Willy Boulter.

"As a pioneer of the Middle East aviation industry with nearly six decades of established presence, the Golden Falcon has etched an inerasable image in the minds of almost every traveller in the region. The passion for innovation and high quality service delivery for which Gulf Air earned its reputation in the 70s and 80s continues even today; it has clearly demonstrated that 'age' is no barrier to enthusiasm and innovation.

"The brand is a reflection of the personality of Gulf Air- bold, contemporary, innovative and service-driven. But above all, Gulf Air has become synonymous with the hallmark Arabian hospitality it has built over the years on its strong geographic, historic and cultural links, successfully combining it with the state-of-the-art passenger services and world-class products," concluded Mr. Boulter.

The Superbrands organisation is acclaimed worldwide as being an independent authority and arbiter of branding excellence and is committed to paying tribute to exceptional brands and promoting the discipline of branding. The award recognises outstanding brand qualities identified with a particular brand name.

Only brands that achieve the level of recognition set by the independent Superbrands Council are eligible for inclusion in the Superbrands book, which is well recognized in the corporate world.
