National carrier, Gulf Air, provided an opportunity for eighteen Bahraini students to undergo on-the-job training with Gulf Air this summer.

These students, who are pursuing a diploma programme in Travel and Tourism Operations at Bahrain Training Institute, are given practical work experience for one month in customer-facing departments at Gulf Air to gain first-hand knowledge of the industry.

"As the national carrier of the Kingdom, Gulf Air considers providing training for young Barhainis as part of its corporate responsibility," says Gulf Air Chief People Officer Mr. Ahmed Al Banna.

"Millions of people travel with Gulf Air every year and what better opportunity there can be for these students than to get such hands-on experience. The practical training they receive at Gulf Air during this period not only gives them exposure to dealing with passengers but also builds up enough confidence to face the job market, raising their prospects of employability."

The students have been split across three divisions of Gulf Air; at the Bahrain International Airport assisting the passengers, at Gulf Air Manama and Seef sales offices helping the customers with information and assistance and, at Gulf Air Staff Travel Division, serving the internal customers.
