22nd April 2009 Print
Thomson is upgrading its fleet with two new Boeing 737-800s. The first aircraft entered commercial service on 1 April and the second aircraft was delivered on 14 April 2009.

The two leased aircrafts are the first new deliveries to be received from Boeing since the merger of ThomsonFly and First Choice Airways last year. Both planes display the updated livery of the Thomson logo and well known colour of this brand; sea blue.

Powered by CFM 56 engines, the new Boeing 737-800s will be operated on short/medium haul routes and have been configured to allow seating for 189 passengers in standard class.

This latest aircraft delivery is part of a wider programme of renewal for the airline’s fleet. As part of this programme, Thomson will be the first UK carrier to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2011.

Chris Browne, Managing Director of the airline, comments: “We are delighted to take delivery of two brand new Boeing 737-800s. This aircraft will ensure that our customers continue to receive an excellent in-flight experience with our airline.”
