Love by the lochside

Love by the lochside Ardanaiseig, one of Scotland’s most romantic hotels, offers the ultimate Valentines break in its waterside love nest. The Boat Shed, recently converted into a contemporary hideaway, offers total seclusion with breathtaking panoramic views of the loch. The Valentines package includes arrival by steamboat across Loch Awe, with welcoming Champagne and oysters served by a personal butler, who is on hand for the duration of the stay.

Guests can wake up every morning to watch the mist rising over the water and mountains and enjoy lazy days of boating, exploring or fishing before feasting on local seafood and game in the award-winning restaurant, which serves a five-course gourmet menu every evening.

Ardanaiseig has 17 other bedrooms in the main house, an imposing baronial manor built in 1876. The bedrooms are designed by a Broadway set designer and filled with unusual furniture and art from the owner’s antique markets in London, giving each room its own distinct charm and character.

Ninety miles from Glasgow, Ardanaiseig is a world away from the frenzy of daily life, and offers complete escapism with time and space to relax. Walking, biking and boating are all on the doorstep and for those who would rather see the outside world from the inside, there is almost always a log fire in the drawing room to curl up beside with a book, or just gaze at the mountain view through the Boatshed’s wall of glass. Ardanaiseig is the perfect place to propose and staff are well versed in creating the ideal setting for that special moment.

The Valentines package is available from 9-20 February and starts from £942 per couple, based on two nights’ accommodation, five course dinner on both nights, champagne and oysters on arrival, steamboat hire and a personal butler for the duration of the stay.
