United Airlines offers inter-island Hawaiian flights

29th May 2008 Print
United Airlines customers may visit the Hawaiian Islands more easily this summer through a new codeshare agreement with Hawaiian Airlines, complementing United’s 18 flights daily between Hawaii and the mainland - more than any other carrier. Through the codeshare service on Hawaiian Airlines’ inter-island Hawaii flights, United's Mileage Plus members will also have the opportunity to accrue and redeem frequent flyer miles on the flights.

"United customers value the numerous options we provide to reach the islands, and this agreement gives more flexibility to connect or island-hop in Hawaii," says Michael Whitaker, United's senior vice president - Alliances, International and Regulatory Affairs. "Mileage Plus members will also enjoy earning frequent flyer miles on these flights so they can more quickly redeem their miles for another Hawaiian vacation."

United expects to begin offering the codeshare flights at the end of this summer. The agreement with Hawaiian Airlines replaces United’s codeshare agreement with Aloha Airlines, which ceased operations in April.

"This new marketing partnership between the largest carrier to Hawaii and the largest carrier within Hawaii strengthens our franchise as the airline of choice between the Hawaiian Islands," said Glenn Taniguchi, Hawaiian Airlines senior vice president - Marketing and Sales. "We look forward to providing United’s customers with a new level of service and seamless connections throughout our home state."
