Lie-flat to the land down under

20th February 2009 Print
Pacific flying has reached new heights with United's new, international lie-flat first and business class seats that provide customers with the optimal space to work, sleep or relax while travelling between the U.S. and Australia.

With the introduction of United's International Premium Travel Experience on all flights to Australia - from Los Angeles and San Francisco - United's first and business class customers traveling 'Down Under' may now enjoy a more comfortable and relaxing flight on a Boeing 747.

"The multi-million dollar investments that we are making in our international aircraft provide our customers with a more comfortable and relaxing way to fly," says Dennis Cary, senior vice president and chief customer officer. "Australia is a pivotal part of United's network, and we look forward to building on our 23 years of serving this market with competitive fares, an unmatched frequent flier program and a new level of both first and business class service."

Through its hubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles, United offers its Australia customers more destinations across the U.S. than any other airline.

United is the only airline that flies between the U.S. and Australia offering iPod connectivity, enabling customers in the front cabins to enjoy their own videos on a 15.4-inch personal television screen. Members of United's Mileage Plus program who hold Premier status or above enjoy complimentary seating in Economy Plus, giving them up to five extra inches of legroom.

Customers in United First and United Business on the newly reconfigured aircraft may enjoy more than 150 hours of movies and television shows on-demand; relax with fully lie-flat seats; and dine on appetizers and entrees designed by world-renowned chef Charlie Trotter on outbound U.S. flights.

United was the first major U.S. carrier to offer lie-flat business class seats in November 2007. More information about these seats - and the International Premium Travel Experience - is available at suitedreams.united.com.
