Lamb heaven for families this Easter
One of the icons of Easter - the newborn lamb - should be in plentiful supply for those families aiming to get away for a farm stay this April.Make the most of it at Row Farm Cottage, a two-bedroom gem, sleeping four, from Cumbrian Cottages on a working livestock farm - with plenty of sheep and cows busy lambing and calving - where the farmer is happy to show guests around.
Dating back to the 1700s, the property is in the hamlet of Waberthwaite - with a pub serving good food and a farm shop best known for its Cumberland sausage and bacon - with the beautiful Eskdale Valley on the doorstep. A week at Easter - from 4 or 11 April - costs £410.
Another option where the young family owners are happy to give guests a tour of their working farm is two-bedroom The Stable Cottage - a Grade II listed barn conversion - sleeping up to five.
Located in south east Cumbria - making it ideal for exploring the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales - in the village of Newbiggin on Lune, the property is an upside down build with bedrooms downstairs and open-plan living, and a wealth of exposed beams, upstairs. A week - from 3 April - costs £430.
