Easter-egg hunting in Devon

Easter-egg hunting in Devon A cuddly bunny and chocolate eggs await guests booking an Easter break at Combe House, near Exeter. This beautiful Grade I Elizabethan manor is hidden on a wooded Devon estate where Arabian horses and pheasants roam freely.

Two night breaks taking in Easter Friday, Saturday or Sunday, 10 – 12 April, are priced from £560 for two people sharing a room including a three-course, candlelit dinner both evenings with canapés. A Michelin Rising Star, Combe House has two Master Chefs of Great Britain who are ardent about sourcing the freshest and best quality local ingredients for their menus. It was also listed in the top 100 restaurants in the UK 2008 by The Restaurant Magazine.

The hotel is the perfect retreat for couples planning a romantic Easter get away for two. Start your holiday weekend with a glass of champagne in the bar and relax in front of a huge roaring log fire in the oak paneled great hall. Accommodation is in fifteen ensuite bedrooms and suites, some with views across the Devon countryside to Dartmoor, or in Combe’s beautifully restored thatch cottage, which sleeps just two and is hidden at the entrance to the drive with its own walled garden.

There is much to see and do close to Combe House. You can meander down the hotel’s one-mile drive to the charming thatched village of Gittisham or drive into Exeter and explore the magnificent Roman city and its cathedral. The attractive coastal resort of Sidmouth is just 20 minutes by car from the hotel; from here a scenic route leads through the pretty fishing villages of Branscombe and Beer to the Heritage Coast between Lyme Regis and Charmouth, which is also a haven for fossil hunters.
