Find your perfect ‘home from home’ this Easter

7th April 2009 Print
The Easter break provides a rare opportunity for the whole family to get together and have some fun and with so much on offer over Easter this year, why not make the most of it and take a trip to Scotland’s Capital city Edinburgh?

In the past, hotels were probably the most obvious choice when booking accommodation in a city but these days that has all changed. Nowadays, high quality self catering accommodation makes a far better choice when travelling with a family. Not only will you save money, and let’s face it that is what’s on all our minds these days, but family travel is a whole lot more enjoyable when you are staying in a ‘home from home’ apartment rather than being squashed into a family sized room in a hotel.

Easter is the perfect short break holiday of the year and Edinburgh is looking at its very best with all the bulbs in full bloom and four days gives you plenty of time to take in the many highlights the city has to offer.

After spending your days out and about exploring the city you can return in the evenings to the comfort of your own ‘home from home’, making your children a meal you know they’ll enjoy then tucking them up in bed whilst you can sit back and relax with a glass of wine.

To help you find your ideal ‘home from home’, Edinburgh apartment agency, Dickins dickins.co.uk are here to help with apartments ranging from modern studios to large townhouses, some with private parking and even gardens…!

You won’t have any difficulty filling your days in Edinburgh as there is so much on offer this Easter including:

The Edinburgh International Science Festival which is the world’s first and Europe’s largest celebration of science and technology and takes place at various venues across Edinburgh from 4-18th April (sciencefestival.co.uk).

Since 1987, it has been inspiring people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the wonder of the world around them and this year is no exception as 2009 marks the International Year of Astronomy and the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth.

Easter Egg Bonanza at Edinburgh’s Royal Botanical Gardens is a fun day for all the family on Easter Sunday including a wide range of activities for children such as face painting, paint your own egg and the magical Easter Egg Hunt! Running from 10:30am-12:30pm, its free entry so best to get along early to avoid disappointment!

Roald Dahl’s infamous BFG at Edinburgh’s Kings Theatre which will not disappoint the kids or indeed the adults with the fantastic story which takes little orphan Sophie on a journey she never would have expected!! Roald Dahl has enchanted young minds for more than twenty five years with stories that fire the imagination, bring dreams to life and release squeals of both terror and delight and the BFG is no exception…!
