Leading ferry company, Stena Line, enjoyed a busy weekend with thousands of passengers travelling during the Easter break.

During the Easter period from Friday 10th April to Monday 13th April, Stena Line carried a mammoth 42,500 passengers and 8,500 cars across the Irish Sea with 26,000 of these passengers and 5,000 cars travelling on the ferry company’s Holyhead to Dublin Port, Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire and Fishguard to Rosslare routes.

Nigel Tilson, Stena Line’s Communications Manager, says that bookings had been coming in thick and fast.

“Every year at this time, we see a dramatic upturn in bookings due to the volume of people who are travelling home to visit friends and family or enjoy an Easter break and this year is no exception,” says Nigel. “Students in particular are a major part of our passenger count at this time of the year as many take advantage of some time off to come home to the comfort and luxury of the family home.

Stena line is the market leader on the Irish Sea, offering the biggest fleet and the widest choice of routes from Britain to Ireland, including Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire, Holyhead to Dublin Port, Fishguard to Rosslare, Stranraer to Belfast and Fleetwood to Larne. The company carries over three million passengers on its Irish Sea routes each year, more than its rival operators combined.
