Many Bermudians associate this time of year with lilies, as the Bermuda variety usually open at Easter. Lilies were introduced to the island in the 1870’s when a stricken ship limped ashore with a precious cargo of the delicate flowers. A local tradition still stands today that the finest selection of lilies are sent to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
