An Easter eggstravaganza in Eastbourne

There’s plenty of inspiration for fun-packed days out as the town prepares for an eggstravagant Easter weekend from 21-24 March. Spend Easter Day enjoying Eastbourne’s stunning seafront location by walking along the promenade accompanied by the Tour Jester as the magnificent Carpet Gardens burst into colour for spring, followed by an afternoon at the Bandstand enjoying the traditional sounds of the Eastbourne Silver Band.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “Easter is a fantastic time of year in Eastbourne as the weather begins to warm up, the countryside comes alive and we can start to make the most of the outdoors on our doorstep. With something going on everyday over the Easter weekend, families have a plethora of activities to choose from day and night. Visitors spending time in Eastbourne over the Easter Bank Holiday will also have the chance to get in on the action as the Eastbourne Festival continues with art exhibitions, new music and dance displays.”
Families celebrating the four day spring break in Eastbourne will be spoilt for choice as the Easter Bunny generously hands out Easter Eggs across the town. Everyone travelling aboard the Easter Eggspress train at Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway will get free chocolate eggs from the Easter Bunny, while children are invited to unearth hidden Easter Eggs at Drusilla’s Zoo eggscavation site with a special prize from Moregg the giant chocolate egg-laying chicken.
For those that want to leave the chocolate eggs behind, head for the Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux where there’s an Easter Egg Hunt with a difference. Instead of searching for eggs, visitors will follow a trail of quirky science questions around the centre making it a fun day out for all the family.
March marks the beginning of spring in Eastbourne with the town’s flower beds, South Downs backdrop, and nearby forests blossoming into glorious displays of colour. Head for Arlington’s Abbots Wood where bluebells burst their buds for spring and cover the forest floor.
Easter festivities continue through to the evening too. Enjoy a girls’ night out on Easter Day with a trip to Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre for an evening with Drop Dead Divas, featuring West End stars hosting a night of musical cabaret. Or head to the Underground Theatre on Easter Monday for a double dose of black comedy.
