African safari holidays for £299

31st March 2009 Print

Tailor-made specialist Freedom Africa is highlighting the low cost of wildlife watching in South Africa with a three-day safari in Hluhluwe National Park costing just £299 this summer.

Starting with a pick up in Durban, this small group tour transfers guests to the Zululand Tree Lodge for two nights in luxury en-suite cabins set on stilts among native 'fever' trees close to the Lodge's swimming pool.

The package includes a game drive into Hluhlluwe National Park and a guided bush walk in the private Ubizane Reserve. Sightings of elephant, rhino, zebra, giraffe and more are common. Half Board is included in the price of £299 per person based on two sharing.

Alternatively, for Johannesburg-based itineraries, the Kruger Discovery tour offers three nights' bed and breakfast at Hippo Hollow Country Estate, on the edge of the Kruger National Park. A full day's 4x4 game drive is likely to reveal lion, zebra, giraffe, elephant, hippo and a multitude of antelope and there's an included visit to Elephant Whispers park to learn all about Africa's best-loved giant. This four-day tour costs £359 per person based on two sharing.

Both tours can be added to any South African holiday plans. Flights are not included, but can be arranged to create a tailor-made holiday.
